Frequently Asked Questions
HOW CAN I BOOK?
Booking your spot is simple! Ana offers bookings online, typically opening up one month in advance due to limited availability. Secure your appointment through the “Book Now” buttons on the website, and don’t forget, a deposit is necessary to confirm your reservation.
In the event that you can’t find a suitable time slot, opt for the “require appointment” option, and Ana’s team will promptly get back to you.
HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT MAKEUP LAST?
The longevity of your permanent makeup varies depending on factors like skin type, overall health, and adherence to touch-up appointments. Typically, tattoos last between 2 to 5 years, with certain styles enduring longer than others based on client preferences.
Several elements may accelerate the fading process of your semi-permanent tattoo, including oily skin, exposure to sunlight, and certain skincare products. It’s essential to follow proper aftercare instructions to maintain optimal results.
DOES THE PROCEDURE CAUSE DISCOMFORT?
While some discomfort may be experienced during the process, Ana ensures a gentle approach and utilizes ample numbing techniques to minimize any discomfort. If you’re concerned about pain, consider taking 1-2 Tylenol tablets 30 minutes prior to your appointment. However, it’s important to avoid Advil or caffeine beforehand, as they can increase sensitivity and bleeding.
SHOULD I SCHEDULE A TOUCHUP?
Touch-up sessions are highly recommended for everyone to maintain the shape, color, and longevity of your tattoo. These sessions allow for adjustments, color enhancements, and filling in areas with less pigment retention. The timing for touch-ups varies based on factors such as age and individual healing processes. Be sure to consult the FAQ page regarding the appropriate timing for touch-ups in relation to other cosmetic procedures.
AM I ELIGIBLE FOR THIS TREATMENT?
You may not undergo this procedure if you’re under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding, have recently taken Accutane, have certain medical conditions, or are undergoing specific medical treatments. It’s crucial to review the eligibility criteria outlined in the FAQs before scheduling your appointment.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY PERMANANENT MAKEUP APPOINTMENT?
Here are some essential preparations to ensure a smooth and successful procedure:
- Refrain from consuming caffeine and alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment. This helps minimize discomfort and bleeding during the procedure.
- Avoid taking Advil or any blood-thinning medications, such as Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, and Ibuprofen, unless medically necessary, for 48-72 hours prior to your procedure. If you have a low pain tolerance, you may opt for extra-strength Tylenol instead.
- Steer clear of rigorous exercise on the day of your appointment to prevent unnecessary stress on your body.
- Refrain from undergoing chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, or using products containing vitamin E, retinols, or fish oil for at least 4 weeks before your appointment. These treatments and products can affect the skin’s healing process.
- Familiarize yourself with the aftercare instructions provided and organize your schedule accordingly to accommodate the healing process. Keep in mind that each procedure entails downtime, so plan accordingly.

IS IT CUSTOMARY TO TIP FOR PERMANENT MAKEUP?
Tips are greatly appreciated and customary in the service-based industry. A tip of 10-20% is standard to show appreciation for excellent service.
WHAT ARE THE COSTS FOR TOUCH-UPS?
Please refer to the Online Booking page on the website for detailed information regarding touch-up pricing.
CAN I RECEIVE SERVICES IF I HAVE HAD TATTOOS BY ANOTHER ARTIST?
If you have previous permanent makeup, you can submit photos for evaluation to determine eligibility for additional procedures. While exceptions may be made in some cases, it’s essential to consult with Ana beforehand to assess the condition of previous work.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE A TOUCH-UP?
For touch-up appointments, refer to the Online Booking page on the website. If it’s been more than three years since your last touch-up, please email photos of your lips, brows, or eyeliner to Ana for evaluation and further instructions.
DO YOU OFFER TRAINING?
Yes! Ana offers comprehensive training programs. Visit the training page on the website for more information regarding available courses and registration details.
CAN I HAVE LIP BLUSH WITH DARK/COOL TONED LIPS?
Absolutely! For clients with dark or cool-toned lips, Ana employs a color correction method during the initial session to neutralize cool tones. It’s crucial to note that the first tattooed color must be warm, such as orange or red, to achieve optimal results. Depending on individual healing and pigment retention, multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired outcome.
AM I CONSIDERED A DARK LIP NEUTRALIZATION OR A LIP BLUSH?
If your lips are two-toned, cool, brown, dark looking, you will need to have a neutralization procedure.
If you are still not sure, send a photo of your lips in natural lighting by email please.
CAN I STILL GET LIP BLUSH IF I HAVE LIP FILLER?
Yes, having lip filler doesn’t interfere with the tattooing process or final results. However, it’s essential to schedule lip filler and lip blush appointments at least 4 weeks apart from each other to ensure optimal healing and results.
CAN THE LIP BLUSH PROCEDURE EXTEND BEYOND THE LIPLINE?
Extending the Lip Blush procedure beyond the natural lipline is not recommended. The skin on the lips differs from that on the face, and going too far outside the natural lipline can result in unnatural or unpredictable outcomes.
DOES THE LIP BLUSH PROCEDURE TRIGGER COLD SORES?
For individuals with the herpes simplex virus, this procedure can potentially trigger cold sores. To minimize the risk, it’s recommended to consult your doctor and obtain antiviral medication to be taken before and after the procedure. Keep in mind that a cold sore outbreak can impact the healed results of the tattoo.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY LIP BLUSH APPOINTMENT?
- If you experience a cold sore outbreak on your lips at the time of your appointment, the procedure may need to be rescheduled. Please be mindful that individuals with the herpes simplex virus may experience outbreaks following the treatment. To mitigate this risk, it’s advisable to consult your family doctor and obtain a prescription for antiviral medication, such as Zovirax, to be taken 5 days before, the day of, and 5 days after the procedure.
- Avoid receiving lip injections for at least 4 weeks before and after undergoing the Lip Blush treatment.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY EYELINER APPOINTMENT?
- Discontinue the use of lash serums at least 4 weeks prior to your appointment, as they can cause sensitivity to your lash line.
- Remove all lash extensions before the eyeliner treatment.
- If you have an eye infection or stye on the day of your procedure, it’s essential to reschedule your appointment for a later date.
- Remember to remove your contact lenses before your appointment to ensure a comfortable and safe procedure.
Aftercare
At Beauty Therapy, we’re committed to helping you enjoy long-lasting beauty results. Following your treatment, proper aftercare is crucial to ensure the best possible outcome and longevity of your beauty enhancements. Below, you’ll find aftercare instructions for our range of services.
Permanent Makeup Aftercare
- Immediately After Treatment: Keep the treated area clean and dry. Avoid touching the area to prevent infection.
- Healing Process: Apply the aftercare ointment provided by Ana Russell, following her specific instructions. Usually, this involves a thin layer applied 2-3 times a day for at least one week.
- Avoid for 7-10 Days: Water on the treated area, makeup, prolonged sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and intense exercise.
- Touch-Ups: A follow-up appointment may be necessary to perfect the treatment. This is typically scheduled 1-2 months after the initial session.
Eyelash Extensions Aftercare
- First 24-48 Hours: Avoid water, steam, and sweat around the eye area to allow the glue to cure properly.
- Daily Care: Gently comb through your extensions with a clean mascara wand to keep them neat. Avoid oil-based makeup removers and cleansers as they can loosen the adhesive.
- Refills: Schedule refill appointments every 2-4 weeks to maintain the fullness of your lashes.
Lash Lift and Tint Aftercare
- First 24 Hours: Keep your lashes dry and avoid rubbing them. Do not apply mascara or undergo any other eye treatments.
- Long-Term Care: Avoid oil-based makeup removers as they can affect the lift. You may apply mascara after 24 hours, but often the tint reduces the need for daily mascara application.
Brow Treatment Aftercare
- Immediately After: Keep the area dry and clean. Avoid touching the brows to prevent any irritation or infection.
- First Week: Apply a small amount of aftercare ointment if provided, and avoid makeup on the brows.
- Avoid: Swimming, excessive sweating, and direct sunlight for the first week. Use a hat or sunblock when outdoors.
General Aftercare Tips
- Hydration: Drink plenty of water to help your skin heal.
- Sleeping Position: Try to sleep on your back to avoid pressure on the treated areas.
- Touch-Ups: Follow the recommended schedule for any touch-ups or follow-up treatments.
